La Vie à Vélo à Strasbourg

La Vie à Vélo à Strasbourg is a documentary project that explores the everyday life of cyclists in Strasbourg.
Known as a crossroads of travelers and cultures, Strasbourg’s dynamic spirit is visible in every corner of the city. Cycling has become deeply woven into its urban lifestyle, supported by thoughtful infrastructure and municipal vision that recognize it as a vital mode of transportation. The city now boasts the longest bicycle network in France, taking inspiration from its northern neighbors in integrating cycling into daily life.

Over the course of more than a year, I have photographed the many layers of this vibrant cycling culture. During this time, I have witnessed notable developments — the expansion of bike lanes, improvements in parking and repair facilities, and the growing presence of vélos cargo (cargo bicycles) that enable families and workers alike to rely on this eco-friendly mode of mobility.

This completed documentary project offers a detailed visual narrative of everyday cycling life in Strasbourg. It is organized into several chapters, each introduced by a short text in French and illustrated through numerous photographs. Together, these chapters portray different dimensions of the city’s cycling ecosystem — from riders and bicycles to infrastructure, urban design, environmental impact, and the city’s push toward innovative cycling solutions.

I welcome publishers for collaboration on publication and curators for exhibition opportunities.
